It had to happen eventually: The Bad Batch, the animated Clone Wars spinoff, will premiere on May 4th. Happy Star Wars Day to everyone! May the Fourth be with all of us.
But that’s not the only upcoming show with a release date…
There have been some changes in the mix: Loki, which was previously expected to premiere in May, begins June 11th. Which feels like a very long time from now.
The Bad Batch is about a special group of clones who are genetically different from their clone brothers. The group was introduced in the final season of Clone Wars, but their series takes plays in the aftermath of the galactic conflict. Clone Wars creator Dave Filoni is one of the show’s executive producers, which immediately makes it a must-see for any fans of the previous excellent animated Star Wars shows that Filoni has had a hand in. The mid-year premiere is perfect; it’ll tide us over until the year-end arrival of The Book of Boba Fett.

Loki picks up after the trickster vanished, Tesseract in hand, from our world and presumably our timeline. A teaser released in December promised all kinds of mysteries and characters and hijinks that will no doubt tie directly into the multiversal wildness promised in the upcoming Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
